Abstract

The car washing brush (6) rotates about its axis (F), the centrifugal force causing it to assume its full diameter. Above the brush is mounted an arm (2), hinged to an extension piece on a support frame (4). The arm (2) carries a roller (1), of a length (e) approximately half that of the brush, and rotating freely on a spindle fitted in the arm. When the arm is pivoted inwards by means of a motor and a reduction gearbox on the frame (4), the roller is forced inwards against the brush, reducing its normal working radius (R) to a lower value, depending on the position in which the arm is stopped.
