Abstract

A joint between two p.v.c. tubes employs a resilient sealing ring which grips the inner tube (A1) tightly, and which has a rectangular portion (12) in cross section, which locates inside a correspondingly shaped portion (10) of the outer tube (B1). This sealing ring consists of an outer ring (12) which is the rectangular portion, interconnected with an inner ring (20) by a thin flap (22) so that on assembly, the two parts are forced together, and to assist the sealing action, the inner ring is of triangular cross section, the pointed portion engaging the inside of the outer ring and the flat part engaging the inner tube (A1). Alternative shapes are shown for the cross section of the inner ring.
