Description

Process for the manufacture of a bath additive
Bath additives in the form of essences, salts and tablets are known in diverse compositions. The spruce needle bath essences are particularly popular, as they usually contain not only spruce needle oil, but also alcohol, oleic acid as an emulsifier and triethanolamine as the main ingredients.
The present invention now relates to a method for producing a bath additive in the form of a paste-like emulsion which dissolves in water. According to the invention, the same is distinguished in that a sulforizinate, an ester of a fatty alcohol derived from a vegetable fatty acid, and an herbal extract are used as components.
Example 100 kg of sulforizinate, namely Turkish red oil, are mixed with 20 kg of cream mass, which is obtained from a mixture of oleic acid and fatty alcohols derived from fatty acids in olive oil, such as the commercially known Cetiol V, with 10 kg of non-organic emulsifier based on fatty alcohols and mixed with 10 kg of coconut fatty acid diethanol as a stabilizer. The mixture is then heated until it melts, after which it is emulsified with the slow addition of herbal extracts. The cream-like product obtained can then be perfumed and colored as desired.
The cream-like product obtained by this process is suitable as a bath additive, it dissolves immediately in bath water and has a beneficial and stimulating effect on human skin. In the case of bath additive for foam baths, a foam compound is expediently used which consists of fatty alcohol sulfonate or a mixture of fatty alcohol sulfonates such as sodium lauryl sulfonate, water-soluble starch, soda, adipic acid and sodium metaphosphate.
The herbal extract, which is obtained in known extraction processes, consists of extracts of arnica, lemon balm, valerian, hops, speedwell, yarrow, parsley, chamomile, rosemary, ointment, coltsfoot, thyme, fennel, elder, lavender, couch grass, spruce needles, hay flowers , Witch hazel and St. John's wort.
