Description
Cell for the production of aluminum of high purity According to the patent claim of the main patent, a cell for the production of aluminum of high purity by fused-salt electrolysis is characterized in that it has pre-fired continuous anodes arranged next to one another, the individual anodes having a width of 200 to 700 square mm, have a length of more than 1400 mm, a mutual distance of less than 150 mm and a current load of less than 10,000 amps.
Through this dimensioning of the individual anodes arranged next to one another, the production of aluminum of high purity is possible, since it is possible to design the path and the speed of the anode gases resulting from the electrolysis, the impurities in gas or smoke form with them so that the named impurities are not absorbed by the metal produced and thus reduce the purity of the metal.
It has now surprisingly been found that this goal can also be achieved if the individual anodes have a width of 700 to 1000 mm. and a current load of up to 20,000 amps. And otherwise have the design and arrangement specified in the claim of the main patent. The mutual spacing of the anodes is expediently 40 to 50 mm.
