Description
Timepiece. The object of the present invention is a timepiece of the type drawing its driving force from a source of light energy by bringing in at least one photoelectric cell.
By timepiece, within the meaning of the present invention, is meant any instrument suitable for marking the hours.
In a timepiece whose rate depends on the presence of light energy, it is necessary to provide an energy reserve, intended to make up for the absence of light, for example at night.
It has already been proposed for this purpose to arm a barrel spring, to lift a mass, in short, to accumulate mechanical energy capable of being returned to the movement when the light is lacking or becomes insufficient.
According to the present invention, electrical energy is stored at least at one time in electrical form.
To do this, the photoelectric cells will be connected either permanently or temporarily to an electric accumulator.
In the first case, their function will only be to charge the accumulator, from where the energy will be taken to activate the movement either by charging a barrel spring or by lifting a mass by means of a motor for example, or by activating a pendulum, an oscillating device, etc.
In the second case, the energy coming from the photoelectric cells would have the primary mission of acting on mechanical drive means, and would incidentally charge an accumulator, in order to constitute a reserve for their periods of inaction.
For example, a motor could be provided to charge a barrel spring and an automatic circuit breaker switch, conveying energy to the accumulator as soon as possible. the spring would be fully loaded. The same arrangement could be adopted by replacing the spring with a weight, the high position of which would then correspond to the armed spring.
