Description
Device for oil cooling in air-cooled engines in motor vehicles. In the case of air-cooled engines in motor vehicles, especially when it comes to engines with a higher output, the air cooling alone is not enough to dissipate all the heat generated in the engine housing, but this must be supported in various ways. An effective means of doing this is by cooling the engine oil. This cooling has been attempted in various ways, e.g. B. by arranging oil coolers in the air flow sweeping over the surface of the vehicle.
Since the oil has to be cooled not only while driving, but also when the car is stationary, it has also been proposed to relocate the oil cooler to the air flow supplied by the fans to the engine, which is incorrect because the cooling air is preheated by the heated oil even before it comes into contact with the engine.
According to the invention, these deficiencies are eliminated in that the motor shaft carries an auxiliary fan at one of its ends which is surrounded by an oil cooler in such a way that the heated air is diverted outside the area of the air flow supplied to the main fans of the motor. Since the fresh air for the auxiliary fan is supplied separately from that for the main fan and can be removed again after heating without coming into contact with the engine, complete cooling of the oil and the engine is achieved.
At the same time, this entire cooling device can be arranged under a special cover in which the cooler is well protected against mechanical damage and other external influences.
In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is shown schematically.
The engine 1 has at the front end of the shaft 2 a rotary fan 3, which is enclosed in a ring by the fixed cooler 4 through which the oil flows. The jacket in the form of a fast surrounds the sensor and diverts the air that has passed through the radiator to places where it cannot mix with the air flowing into the main fans, for example on the underside of the vehicle.
