Description
Oxygen generator cartridge. The present invention relates to an oxygen-generating cartridge, characterized in that it comprises a receptacle provided internally with an insulating lining and a longitudinal compartmentalization in the compartments of which are placed granules of a substance intended for produce oxygen; each of the ends of the receptacle comprising a neck, closed by a welded plate, one of the latter being provided with a metal wire connected on the other hand to a bulb filled with water, which is intended to be broken when the corresponding plate is removed; means being further provided for filtering oxygen and stopping dust.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is a sectional elevation view thereof and FIG. 2 is a sectional view along I-I of FIG. 1.
The oxygen-generating cartridge shown, which can be used to supply, depending on its size, either an enclosed space such as a shelter or a respiratory mask, comprises a tin receptacle 1 provided internally with a longitudinal lining 2 in asbestos wax tone.
The ends 3 and 4 of this container have necks 5 and 6 closed by means of welded plates 7 and 8 provided with rods 9 and 10 on which traction is operated when it comes to removing said plates and using the cartridge shown. This is divided longitudinally, by means of the partitions 11 and 12 into compartments 13, 14, 15 and 16 in which is placed a substance intended to produce oxygen, for example granules consisting of an alkaline peroxide and a catalyst, such as copper oxide mixed with paraffin capable of melting at a temperature between 350 and 400.
At the two ends of the container 1 are provided two filters 17 and 18, made with glass wool for example, and intended to filter oxygen and. prevent the exit of granules or dust from these granules.
On the inside face of the cover 8 is welded a metal wire 19 held on the other hand around a glass bulb 20 filled with water; the whole is. carried out so that by tearing off the cover 8 with the aid of the rod 10, the ampoule 20 is broken and its contents spread over the granules contained in the container 1, which initiates the reaction producing the release oxygen.
The ends of the bulb 20 are fixed in tin tubes 21 and 22.
The release of oxygen being initiated, the neck 5, for example, is connected either with a breathing mask or to a ventilator; in the latter case, the air sucked in by the ventilator passes through the receptacle 1 in which it gets rid of its moisture and from which it emerges rich in oxygen.
