  Verfahren zur<B>Darstellung</B> eines als Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel  verwendbaren     Kondensationsproduktes.       Gegenstand des vorliegenden Patentes ist  ein Verfahren zur Darstellung eines als  Schädlingsbekämpfungsmittel verwendbaren  Kondensationsproduktes, des     2.2'-Dioxy-5.5'-          dibromdiphenylmethans,    dadurch gekenn  zeichnet, dass man Formaldehyd mit     p-Brom-          phenol    in Gegenwart von sauren Konden  sationsmitteln kondensiert.  



  <I>Beispiel:</I>  173 Gewichtsteile     p-Bromphenol,    39,4       Gewichtsteile        Formaldehyd        von        40        %        und          835        Gewichtsteile        50        %        ige        Schwefelsäure     werden bei 60-70 o bis zur Beendigung der  Kondensation gerührt.

   Das     abfiltrierte    Kon  densationsprodukt wird in Natronlauge ge  löst, von etwas Ungelöstem     abfiltriert,    mit  Säure wieder gefällt und von geringen Men  gen Bromphenol mit Dampf befreit. Das aus  dem Dampfrückstand     abfiltrierte    und ge  trocknete Reaktionsprodukt kann aus hoch  siedendem     Ligroin,    nachdem man nötigenfalls  von etwas Ungelöstem     abfiltriert    hat, kristalli  siert werden. Aus heissem Wasser, worin das    Produkt sehr schwer löslich ist, erhält man  es in langen Nadeln vom Schmelzpunkt 1810.  Die Kondensation kann auch in anderer Weise,  z. B. mit     Eisessig-Schwefelsäure    bei Zimmer  temperatur ausgeführt werden.

   Das erhaltene  Produkt verhält sich gegen Motten und ähn  liche Schädlinge wie das nach dem Haupt  patent Nr. 135166 dargestellte.

PATENTANSPRUCH Verfahren zur Darstellung eines als Schäd lingsbekämpfungsmittel verwendbaren Kon densationsproduktes, des 2.2'-Dioxy-5.5'- dibromdiphenylmethans, dadurch gekennzeich net, dass man Formaldehyd mit p-Bromphenol in Gegenwart von sauren Kondensationsmit teln kondensiert. Das Reaktionsprodukt ist in hochsiedendem Ligroin löslich. Aus heissem Wasser, worin das Produkt sehr schwer lös lich ist, erhält man es in langen Nadeln vom Schmelzpunkt 18111.
