Description
Thermal insulation compound. The invention relates to a thermal insulation compound. According to the invention, the heat insulating compound consists of a dry mixture of dusty or powdery and fibrous insulating material avoiding any binding agent.
Example: Equal parts by weight of powdered kieselguhr and slag wool are combined to form a dry mixture, avoiding any binding agents.
The use of both of these substances for heat insulation purposes is known.
Powdery diatomaceous earth collapses at the slightest vibration and loses a lot of its insulating value. This is prevented by mixing with slag wool, as the slag wool serves as a carrier for the loose kieselguhr. Conversely, experience has shown that slag wool alone would be crushed due to its brittleness in the event of vibrations, which are often unavoidable in a company, and finally collapse like kieselguhr.
By adding diatomaceous earth, however, the individual slag wool threads are given sufficient elastic storage so that they are protected from destruction. In addition, the slag wool surrounded by the kieselguhr can withstand higher temperatures than usual without sintering together.
Instead of kieselguhr, other dusty or powdery substances that can be used as insulating agents, e.g. B. powdery chalk, burnt powdery magnesia, for the same considerations out dry mixed with slag or glass wool ver.
