Abstract
A fishing lure comprised of a hollow body impregnated with small holes with 1 or more attached hooks and capped with a workable lid designed for the purpose of an angler to enclose the bait of his/her choice inside the capsule which enables the scent of bait to be naturally released into the water to attract fish while simultaneously protecting the bait. The lure is attached to a wire with a lead intended to be attached to the fishing line.
Description
BaitProTek DESCRIPTION
Fish hunt by sight, smell and hearing. Existing fishing lures attempt to attract fish by appealing to their primary senses and therefore are typically brightly coloured and inventors have added scents and sounds to the lures to increase their ability to attract fish. Scent is significant in murky water or deep water as fish can no longer use their sense of sight as effectively and must rely further on their sense of smell. The current models for adding scent to lures include oils that are not water soluble, and not detectable by smell, or water soluble scent which quickly washes off and needs to be frequently reapplied.
These current methods have limitations including the fact that the angler can only use the scents supplied by the inventor.
Summary of Invention:
This invention addresses the limitations noted above. This lure is made of a brightly coloured reflective material to appeal to the sense of sight. But this lure is primarily designed to appeal to the sense of smell and solves the current problems encountered by existing scented lures. Since the lure can be opened and closed by the angler he or she can customize the scent according to the fish they are attempting to attract by placing their desired bait inside the containment vessel or bait cage of the lure. The bait cage is drilled with holes to allow the scent to escape into the surrounding waters as water flows through the containment vessel, or bait cage. The scent continues to flow into the water and does not wane or need to be reapplied, as the scent is emanating from the bait inside the bait cage which is intact and protected.
Detailed Description of the invention:
As per Diagram 3 This lure consists of a suitable shaped capsule configuration (round, oval, square, rectangular, tubular etc.), (Fig. 1) that has an opening lid /cap (Fig. 2) for inserting the bait. Made of any rigid material including metals and/or p4 c: 3 plastic. Drilled holes or openings on the capsule (Fig. 5) shaped structure provide fluid communication between the exterior and interior of the capsule.
A leader (Fig. 3) is fed through the bait cage. One end of the leader is equipped with an eyelet (Fig. 6) to receive a line. At least one anchor point is disposed on the capsule shaped structure, operable to receive one or more hooks. (Fig. 4) The lid further may have a hinge and a clasp, or threads attached to the capsule shaped structure to close the opening.
The capsule is designed to contain bait but could also be utilized to adjust the weight of the lure through adding cork or lead if desired.

Claims (3)
The embodiment of an invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed is defined as follows:
1. A fishing lure capsule designed to be independently opened and closed by an angler for the purpose of allowing the angler to customize the scent of the lure by placing the desired scented bait inside the capsule thereby also protecting the bait from being eroded or lost in the process of casting jigging or trolling.
2. As per Diagram 3 This lure consists of a suitable shaped capsule configuration (ie. round, oval, square, rectangular, tubular etc.), (Fig. 1) that has an opening lid /cap (Fig. 2) for inserting the bait. Made of any rigid material including metals and/or plastic. Drilled holes or openings on the capsule (Fig. 5) shaped structure provide fluid communication between the exterior and interior of the capsule.
A leader (Fig. 3) is supplied with the bait cage. One end of the leader is equipped with an eyelet (leader Fig. 6) to receive a line. At least one anchor point is disposed on the capsule shaped structure, operable to receive one or more hooks. (Fig. 4) The lid/cap (Fig. 2) further may have a hinge and a clasp, or threads attached to the capsule shaped structure to close the opening. Figure 2 of this invention is the primary innovation sought to be protected by the patent although the lid/cap needs to be attached and utilized as per the remaining components of the lure capsule and therefore the design and description of the lure capsule is being claimed in its entirety.
3. The above noted lure capsule can also be utilized by the angler to place cork or lead inside to adjust buoyancy if desired further customizing the lure for his or her angling requirements.
