ONE-PIECE DISPI~Y BOX_ASSEMBLY

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

I. Fi~ld of the Invention This invention relates to display boxes constructed from a one-piece blanX and, in particular, to a one-piace display box adapted ~o mount a faucet or the like therein while providing protection for the product during shelf storage.

II. Descr1ption of the Pr}or Art _ _ Because of the inexpensive properties of cardbo~rd material it has become highly desixable to utilize cardboard boxes to store and transport consumer products.
Such containers pe~mit uniform storage of irregularly shaped objects or products which include a plurality of components. However, these ~ully enclosed containers do not provide co~venient viewing of the ~product ky the consumer. If the container is sealed, the consumer would ~nevita~ly ~-e~k the seal to ensure that a non-defective product was enclosed. Despite this disadvan'age, conventional cardboard bo~s are still widely utili2ed to store and transport consumer~ products. :2~oreover, in most instances such bo~s are fo m~d f-om 2 one-pie^e Dl anX
whicn can be ouickly and oonvenien.ly asse~ble~.
In orde~ ~o overcome ~he ~isaâvan_a~es c~
conven~ional cardboard containers, sh~inX~wra~ pa-ka~ing W25 developed which provided display of ~he produ~t while m~intaining the integrity of ~he com~on~s. Tn addi.ior., the sh_ink-wrap covering protec~ed -~he p-oduc~s fror damage. Generally, the product or its cor.ponents are shrink-wr2pped onto a rigid car~oard panel fo- support ~nd d~splay. Al'hough many times such products are displayed merely with the backing panel, for storage and shelf display purposes the shrink-wrapped product can be mounted within a di~play box having an open front panel.
Howev~r, becau e of the additional operations necessary to shrink-wrap the product, such display assemblies signi~icantly increased the overall product price.
Other display boxes have been developed which include a display window within which the product is sealed or shrink-wrapped on a separate cardboard panel and fitted within the box to be displayed through the display window.
Generally, these display boxes are formed from a one-piece blank which is folded to form the display box. Some of the past known display boxes provide a seat for the product but do not provide a stable surface to which the consumer good can be directly mounted to prevent a loss of componen~s.

SUMMARY OF THE PRESENT INVENTION
The present invention overcomes the disadvantages of the prior known display boxe~ by providing a one-piece ~lank which can be assembled without adhesives to ~orm a display box ha~ing a horizontal mounting surface and storage compartment for storing component parts.
