Abstract
ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE
A line guide ring for fishing rods is fabricated by forming an elongated thin-wall pipe into an annulus, spiral or coil and flattening both ends of said thin-wall pipe to provide mounting legs.
A line guide ring for fishing rods is fabricated by forming an elongated thin-wall pipe into an annulus, spiral or coil and flattening both ends of said thin-wall pipe to provide mounting legs.
Description
~ z~
kground of the Invention The present invention relates to a super-light line guide ring to be mounted on a fishing rod.
In the case of a line guide ring used in a fly rod, it is desirable that it be of light weight. Heretofore, it has been made of a fine stainless wire into a S-shape; however, this guide was disadvantageous because it causes wear to an expensive fly line.
Unlike the general fishing line formed of a single fiber, the fly line is braided and delicate. For this reason, there is a strong demand for a line guide ring which protects the line from wearing and at the same time must be of light weight for maximum use of rod action.
.
~ Summary of the Invention , Setting an eye on the fact that the use of fine wire is responsible for the fishing line being worn, the present inventor has devised a line guide free from the aforesaid defect by making use of a thicker hollow pipe.
According to the present invention, there is provided a line guide ring for fishing rods fabricated by forming an elongated thin-wall pipe into an annulus, spiral or coil and flattening both ends of said thin-wall pipe to provide mounting legs.
., .
B~ief Description of the Drawings The present invention will now be described with reference to preferred embodiments illustrated in the drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing one embodiment of the present invention, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing another embodiment.

' Detailed Description of the Invention In the drawing, n~eral reference 1 denotes a line guide ring formed of a thin-wall pipe made of stainless steel, which comprises a spiraled eyering 2 and flat-pressed mounting legs 3 and 3'. It will be, of course, understood from Fig. 2 that a line guide ring lA' may be formed by winding an eyelet ring 2A into an annulus, forming supporting legs 4A and 4A' integrally from below said annular portion and forming further mounting legs 3A and 3A'. In this connection, it goes without saying that the eye ring portion or the overall surface of a line guide ring according to the present invention may be coated with a corrosion- and wear- resistant material such as hard chrome, ceramic or other coatings. Moreover, since the line guide ring according to the present invention is formed of thin-wall hollow pipe, it is possible to make a large diameter wire in equal weight to the prior art wire-made line guide ring.
Accordingly, the line guide ring of the present invention causes less wear to a fishline.
When the legs to be mounted on a rod are f~rmed from a solid member by pressing, their width becomes too wide, or otherwise too thick. However, the present invention is free from such defects since it is made of thin-walled pipe.
