Abstract

In a tissue papermaking process to wind on to a drum, the tissue paper feed ribbon has to be taken up in a start-up process or following a web break. The feed ribbon is presented to the drum by a feed roller with an adhesive coating. The tissue paper web is picked up suddenly by the feed roller. The feed roller is initially in a static position and then progresses to very slow speed before acceleration to normal operating speed. The initial feed strip is surrendered first to a pulper assembly until the tissue paper web has reached the normal width. Also claimed is a commensurate assembly.
