Abstract

PROCESO PARA RECUPERAçãO DE ENXOFRE é descrito um processo para a recuperação de enxofre de uma corrente de gás ácido. O processo inclui uma etapa de recuperação de enxofre de Claus em combinação com uma etapa de recuperação biológica de enxofre para proporcionar um corrente de gás doce possuindo concentrações muito baixas de sulfeto de hidrogênio e de dióxido de enxofre. O processo inclui reagir uma corente de gás ácido com oxigênio sob tais condições de oxidação para dar um gás de combustão compreendendo sulfeto de hidrogênio e dióxido de enxofre de modo a ter uma razão de sulfeto de hidrogênio para dióxido de enxofre aima de 2:1, preferivelmente de 2:1 a 30:1. O gás de combustão é reagido sob condições de reação de Claus para dar um gás de reação compreendendo enxofre. O enxofre é recuperado do gás de reação para dar um gás residual compreendendo uma concentração de sulfeto de hidrogênio e menos do que 1.000 ppmv de dióxido de enxofre. O gás residual é contatado com um absorvente pobre para deste modo remover do gás residual uma porção do sulfeto de hidrogênio contido no mesmo e para dar um gás doce e um solvente rico compreendendo sulfeto de hidrogênio dissolvido. O sulfeto de hidrogênio dissolvido do solvente rico é biologicamente oxidado a enxofre elementar pelo contato do solvente rico com bactéria de enxofre sob condições de oxidação biológica adequadas com o solvente rico.
