A presente invenção apresenta uma camada componente adequada para uso em um artigo absorvente higiênico, a camada componente incluindo: a) uma primeira porção substancialmente planar; e b) uma segunda porção substancialmente planar sobreposta à dita primeira porção; as ditas porções sobrepostas formando um obstáculo ao fluxo de um fluido através da camada componente.
