Abstract

Patente de Invenção para <B>"MéTODO PARA QUEIMA DE CORPOS ALVEOLARES CERâMICOS"<D>. Um método de fabricação de um corpo estrutural alveolar cerâmico de cordierita que inclui as seguintes etapas: formulação de uma porção de matéria prima compreendendo uma mistura de argila de caolim, talco, alumina e outros materiais de formação de cordierita, cada uma das matérias primas incluídas na porção em uma quantidade efetiva tal que a porção é capaz de produzir um corpo alveolar queimado cuja fase de cristal predominante é cordierita; mistura íntima das matérias primas com uma quantidade efetiva de veículo e auxiliadores de formação, para conceder formabilidade plástica e resistência verde às matérias primas, e formar uma mistura plástica; formação das matérias primas em um corpo estrutural alveolar verde por extrusão, e, em seguida, secagem e queima do corpo estrutural alveolar verde. A queima do corpo estrutural alveolar verde é efetuada através de um processo de aquecimento de quatro fases, conforme se segue: (1) aquecimento do corpo verde à uma primeira faixa de temperatura entre cerca de 750-850°C; (2) aquecimento à uma segunda faixa de temperatura entre cerca de 1250 a 1350°C; e finalmente à uma terceira temperatura de pelo menos 1390°C; e (4) mantendo-se a temperatura de pelo menos 1390°C mas menos do que 1420°C, por um período de cerca de 12 a 20 horas. Em uma concretização, uma primeira atmosfera oxidante compreendendo não mais do que cerca de 6% de O~ 2~ é mantida nas temperaturas de queima acima da primeira temperatura. Alternativamente, uma atmosfera de queima oposta à uma atmosfera de oxidação, compreendendo não mais do que cerca de 3% de CO, é mantida nas temperaturas de queima acima da primeira temperatura.
