Abstract

Transmissões de dados ocorrem em um sistema de radiocomunicação entre pelo menos uma estação base e pelo menos uma estação remota. Data transmissions occur in a radio communication system between at least one base station and at least one remote station. The base station is capable of transmitting signals and receiving signals from the remote station while the remote station is in a predetermined area. A priority is assigned to each type of data to be transmitted and the type and priority of each transmission to come is determined and stored. Higher priority data types are then transmitted before lower priority data types. Where there is more than one base station, there will be a plurality of overlapping communication cells. Base stations broadcast signals in a first period of time and remote stations transmit signals in a second period of time. The base stations are coupled to a central controller that synchronizes the first and second periods of time used by the base stations in adjacent cells. The number of transmissions in each cell is monitored and the durations of each of the first and second time periods adjusted to improve the use of available transmission bandwidth. Transmissions from remote stations to base stations can be transmitted after a predetermined delay that is varied depending on the distance from the remote station to the base station.
