Mais precisamente, ela se refere a um filme compósito estirado biaxialmente, à base de poliéster e que tenha as propriedades barreira em relação a gases melhoradas, caracterizado pelo fato de que ele envolve um filme de base de poliéster que tem de 5 Ám até 50 Ám, revestido sobre uma de suas duas faces de uma camada que envolve álcool polivinílico e um co-poliéster hidrodispersível com motivos sulfonilóxi, o dito filme compósito apresentando uma permeabilidade a oxigênio medida a 23°C sob 50% de umidade relativa, inferior ou igual a 5 cm^ 3^/m^ 2^/24 horas. Os filmes compósitos da invenção apresentam, além de sua transparência e suas propriedades barreira, uma excelente resistência à agressões mecânicas, tal como especialmente o fato de ficarem amarfanhados.
