<B>''MáQUINA, MéTODO E MEIOS PARA RETIFICAçãO"<D> Um par de transportadores de roda de retificação (26), cada um suportando sua própria roda de retificação (152, 162), são ambos suportados por uma máquina de retificação (20) em uma lateral de um transportador de trabalho e peça de trabalho (40) quando suportada pelo mesmo. A peça de trabalho (40) é, neste caso, um eixo transmissor com pares múltiplos de ressaltos similares (62, 64, 72, 74, 82, 84) dispostos ao longo do eixo da peça de trabalho. O controle da operação e disposição das rodas de retificação (152, 162) provê a utilização de ambas as rodas de retificação para retificar pares de ressaltos (62, 64) ou ambas as rodas de retificação (152, 162) retificam simultaneamente um par de pares de ressalto. O método envolve primeira retificação de um primeiro par de ressaltos (62, 64) de ressaltos espaçados porém em fase, com uma das rodas de retificação (152); posteriormente utilizando ambas as rodas de retificação (152, 162) simultaneamente para retificar dois pares de pares de ressaltos espaçados (72, 74) e repetindo esta etapa dependendo do número de pares de ressaltos; por último o par de ressaltos final (82, 84) é retificado usando a outra roda de retificação (162). A velocidade de trabalho do eixo transmissor (40) é variada dependendo da região de ressalto sendo retificada e para acomodar a retificação de dois pares de ressaltos (62...) onde o ângulo de fase de um par de ressaltos difere do ângulo de fase do outro par de ressaltos.
