Abstract
<B>ESTIMULAçãO DE TECIDO BIOLóGICO POR ENERGIA óTICA<D>. Tecido biológico de um ser vivo é irradiado com energia ótica a um compartimento de onde e a um nível de dissipação de potência, para fazer com que a quantidade de energia óica absorvida e convertida em calor no tecido esteja dentro de uma faixa limitada por uma taxa mínima de absorção, suficiente para elevar a temperatura média do tecido irradiado a um nível acima da temperatura basal do corpo, mas que seja inferior à taxa de absorção de absorção, na qual o tecido é convertido numa substância colagênea. De acordo com este processo, um efeito de aquecimento terapeuico é produzido dentro do tecido irradiado, mas sem causar lesões ao tecido por parte do superaquecimento térmico. O processo de uso de um sistema a laser de baixo nível reativo, a partir do 100 miliwatts por centímetro quadrado até 1.000 miliwatts por centímetro quadrado num modo pulsante ou contínuo, com energia ótica produzida por um laser de Nd:YAG num comprimento de onda fundamental de 1.064 nanómetros, foi constatado reduzir a dor em tecidos moles, reduzir a inflamação, e aumentar a cura de tecidos por estimulação de microcirculação, sem submeter o tecido vivo a efeitos térmicos prejudiciais. A densidade de energia do tecido irradiado é limitada à faixa de cerca de 0,1 joule por centímetro quadrado a cerca de 15 joules por centímetro quadrado. Um processo alternativo produz energia ótica por um laser de Nd:YLF a um comprimento de onde de 1.055 nanómetros. Outros laseres podem ser usados, que produzam energia ótica numa faixa preferida de cerca de 950 a cerca de 1.200 nanómetros na faixa de potência desejada.
