The invention also relates to a method of preparing a lignin-based adhesive binder, comprising the steps of providing lignin isolated from a pulping process of lignocellulosic materials, providing permanent or annual plant-based fibers or of wood, formation of an aqueous suspension of lignin and fibers, and foaming of the aqueous suspension to provide a foamed adhesive binder composition containing the solids in a homogeneous dispersion.
