Abstract

"SISTEMA E MéTODO PARA A UTILIZAçãO DE UM DISCO RAM". Trata-se de um sistema e de um método para a determinação de uma letra de drive usado por um disco RAM e que comunica aquele designador com outros programas. Em um computador que tem um processador para rodar o código do sistema operacional, RAM e um dispositivo de memória de drive rígido, a RAM inclui um disco RAM configurado nele e o dispositivo de memória de drive rígido inclui pelo menos uma partição. O código do sistema operacional reconhece tanto o disco RAM quanto a partição de drive rígido como drives lógicos e consequentemente, contém uma série de pelo menos dois blocos de parâmetros de drive (DPB), um DPB para cada drive lógico. O computador inclui também uma rotina de software para determinar uma letra de drive atribuída ao disco RAM e que comunica aquele drive com um outro programa. Em primeiro lugar, a rotina tem que averiguar se a letra de drive atribuída ao disco RAM ao executar sequencialmente as seguintes etapas: acessar um DPB da série; examinar o drive lógico designado pelo DPB e determinar se o drive lógico é o disco RAM. Uma vez que a rotina tenha averiguado que DPB está associado ao disco RAM, ela então recupera a letra de drive atribuída aquele DPB e armazena a letra de drive em um local predeterminado. Consequentemente, um programa pode acessar o disco RAM por referência ao local predeterminado.
