A presente invenção refere-se a um espelho retrovisor externo para veículos automotores, de preferência para automóveis, com uma base de espelho que possui um cabeçote de espelho com um alojamento, no qual está acondicionada uma placa de suporte de vidro, que consiste de material plástico, sendo que o material plástico do alojamento do espelho (3) possui ao menos no seu lado externo um revestimento (7) de material plástico desistente à luz.
