Abstract

"PROTEìNAS ANTI-FúNGICAS, CODIFICAçãO DE DNA PARA AS MESMAS E HOSPEDEIROS QUE INCORPORAM AS MESMAS". A presente invenção fornece uma proteína isolada obtenível de uma fonte de planta que tem atividade antifúngica, especificamente atividade anti-Phytophthora e/ou atividade anti-Pythium e um peso molecular de aproximadamente 55-65 kDa como julgado por eletroforese-SDS PAGE, uma seq³ência de DNA isolada compreendendo um quadro de leitura aberta capaz de codificar uma proteína ilustrada na SEQ ID NO: 16, SEQ ID NO. 57, SEQ ID NO. 70, SEQ ID NO. 72 ou SEQ ID NO. 74 ou suas muteínas, e DNA capaz de hibridizar com a mesma sob condições rigorosas. A invenção compreende ainda plantas incorporando DNA quimérico capaz de codificar uma proteína de acordo com a invenção, e em que a proteína é expressa. Também é mostrado o carboidrato e preferivelmente atividade de oxidação de hexose da referida proteína. São também fornecidos métodos para combater fungos, especialmente espécie Phytophthora e Pythium, utilizando uma proteína ou uma célula hospedeira capaz de produzir a proteína.
