Abstract

"TRATAMENTOS QUìMICOS PARA FIBRAS E TIRAS COMPóSITOS REVESTIDAS - ARAME PARA MOLDAGEM DE ARTIGOS COMPóSITOS TERMOPLáSTICOS REFORçADOS - FIBRA". Em um aspecto geral, a invenção refere-se a aplicação de um tratamento químico às fibras (10), tais como fibras de reforço (12) adequadas para fazer um artigo compósito, de modo a colar e/ou impregnar as fibras. O tratamento químico tem uma viscosidade relativamente baixa e é substancialmente isento de solvente e não curável por radiação. Pode ser empregada energia térmica para diminuir a viscosidade e aperfeiçoar a capacidade umectante do tratamento aplicado e/ou para aumentar o peso molecular de, ou de outro modo curar, o tratamento sem essencialmente gerar vapor de solvente. As fibras tratadas (32) são usadas para formar um fio compósito (14), que pode ser subseq³entemente processado em linha ou fora de linha para um artigo compósito tendo as fibras dispostas em uma matriz polimérica. Um outro aspecto geral refere-se a fios compósitos encerrados, sob a forma de linhas ou de pelotas, e a métodos de revestimento de fios e aparelho para fazer os mesmos. Os fios são moldáveis em artigos compósitos termoplásticos reforçados com fibras. cada fio é feito de fibras, incluindo fibras de reforço e, opcionalmente, fibras de um material de matriz, que são impregnadas com um tratamento químico de modo que o tratamento esteja disposto entre substancialmente todas as fibras
