Abstract

The invention relates to a water-impervious mat, at least partially filled with bentonite or another clay that has strong swelling characteristics. Said mat consists of a support web (1) and a cover web (2), which is connected to the support web by seams (3). The aim of the invention is to delay the clay layer from rapidly drying out and to prevent cracks caused by shrinkage or contraction. To achieve this, the support web (1) is an elastic web consisting of foamed plastic with a closed outer skin (4) and open cells (5), in which the bentonite is contained and the open side of the cells (5) is sealed by the cover web (2).
