A invenção refere-se a uma molécula de DNA que compreende uma seq³ência de acordo com a SEQ ID NO: 1, com uma região de abertura de leitura do par de base 211 ao par de base 1740 ou que apresenta pelo menos 50% de homologia com a seq³ência acima-mencionada, ou a qual é hibridizada com a seq³ência acima-mencionada sob condições severas, ou a qual compreende uma seq³ência que foi degenerada para a seq³ência de DNA acima-mencionada em função do código genético. A seq³ência codificada para a proteína vegetal compreende uma atividade de transferase fucosil ou é complementar desta.
