Abstract

The method is used for cleansing cauldrons, which burn liquid sulphur-containing fuels and coal from flue gases containing sulphur dioxide. The process is accelerated and the extracted sulphuric acid's concentration is high. At a temperature between 410 and 500 degrees C, the flue gases are subject to dust removal. After catalytic oxidation of the sulphur dioxide to sulphur trioxide, it is immediately cooled down to 210-250 degrees C with water, which is first heated and then cooled in a step-wise fashion to 60-130 degrees C. After each step, the produced sulphuric acid mist is extracted on a fibrous fabric and removed from the system.
