Abstract

The reinforcing system comprises two uprights (2,6) which are secured to the door jambs (4) of the surrounding frame. One upright (6) incorporates e.g. latches for the door lock whilst the other upright (2) carries hinges (3) about which the edge of a steel panel (1) can pivot. The steel panel is secured to the internal face of the door (5). - The steel panel (1) pref. incorporates lines of reduced thickness along its upper edge and down its free lateral edge. These lines allow the panel to be adapted to any size of door.(2/2)

  Improvement of the door shielding.

  
The invention relates to an improvement to the device for protecting the doors of apartments or residential houses against break-ins.

  
Up to now, such doors have a wooden leaf, which is reinforced by laying, according to traditional methods (wood screws), an armor sheet formed by a cut of sheet steel which has the disadvantage of consolidating only the surface of the door and not the fixings.

  
Subsequently other solutions have been adopted such as the production of entirely metal leaf doors, which have the disadvantage of being very expensive being produced on demand on site.

  
An incomplete solution adopted for doors

  
in wood consisted in replacing the leaf by a metal leaf but this solution had an unfavorable impact on the esthetics especially with regard to the external aspect if the door adjoined with wooden doors creating a too marked contrast.

  
An attempt made to overcome this drawback consisted in making a metal door in which a decorative panel was incorporated in the style of the neighboring doors so that its appearance does not "swear" with the latter. This solution, however, accentuates the disadvantage mentioned above, namely that it is extremely expensive because it involves the need

  
to make a door on demand and in addition an external decorative wooden panel.

  
The present invention will remedy all these drawbacks by carrying out a synthesis of known means.

  
The protection of the door according to the invention will be constituted by a steel panel articulated by hinges on an upright constituted by an L-shaped profile. This profile will be fixed on one of the door uprights, while the panel, adjusted by an adequate cutout will be fixed on the interior surface of the door.

  
This achievement is in a way a

The fixing of the assembly can be carried out by all the conventional methods; for example, wood screws will fix the profile of the upright to the frame as well as holes in the panel allowing it to be fixed on the interior surface of the door.

  
The installation may be completed by the installation of any lock while remaining within the scope of the invention.

  
The description which follows with reference to the accompanying drawings by way of nonlimiting example will make it possible to understand clearly how the invention can be put into practice.
