In a treatment of effluent, spec. radioactive effluent, to make it suitable for storage, partic. in a form from which the radioactive material can be eluted only with difficultly, by treating the effluent in known manner with a carrier to from a fluid mass; the carrier used consists, at least partly, and pref. predominantly of a concentrated silicate soln which can be made solid 300 degrees C.
