Abstract

Gas contacts a countercurrent flow of cleaning liquid in vessel with transverse elements consisting of horizontal plates spaced apart in vertical direction and extending alternately from one side wall to a distance from the other side wall, and forming a zig zag path for gas, which contacts liquid flow across upper surfaces of plates and liquid cascading between plates at the free edges.
