Abstract

The invention relates to a device for illuminating signs, especially for airport runways and taxiways, whereby the device is comprised of one or more plastic panes which are arranged one against the other, which function as a display, and into which light from a light source is fed in a manner that is parallel to the display plane. The inventive device also comprises means for two-dimensionally distributing light, and the transparent motifs or characters through which light is irradiated are arranged in front of or on said means.
