Abstract

A ladle for filtering liquid metal such as Al, Mg or alloys thereof on a filter medium such as a gravel bed (2, 3), comprising a first heater (6) located outside the bed and the liquid metal, and a second heater (11), e.g. an immersion heater, arranged in a liquid metal flow channel (8) adjacent the filter bed (2, 3).
