Abstract

The invention concerns a support surface with a pressure-compensation system for, in particular, mattresses, a pressure-generation fluid being fed into a pressure-distribution cushion (3) which is attached to or in the mattress cover (2) or is attached to the mattress (1) itself. The cover (2) can have a pocket (4) designed to accommodate the pressure-distribution cushion. The pressure-distribution cushion (3) itself can be attached inside or outside the cover (2) and above or below the mattress (1).
