Abstract

A method comprises: receiving, by a server computer, an authentication request message at a mobile device. The method also comprises prompting, by the mobile device, a user to select a type of user authentication; receiving, by the mobile device, a selected type of authentication; prompting, by the mobile device, the user to enter a user authentication token; receiving, by the mobile device, the user authentication token and generating, by the mobile device, a secret token based upon the user authentication token and the selected type of user authentication used to authenticate the user and transmitting, by the mobile device to server computer, the secret token, wherein the server computer retrieves a secret reference token, compares the received secret token and the secret reference token, and if the secret reference token and the received secret token do not match, the server computer sends a denial message to the mobile device, and if the secret reference token and the received secret token do match, then the server computer initiates an authorization request message for a transaction.
