Title
Pic It! Scan and Build App
Field
Computing / Image Recognition
Summary
The Pic It! App allows users of mobile devices to scan images to view additional content as well as build additional content on their device for people to scan and view. Current programs or apps have limited functionality to create the additional content.
Pic It! allows users of the app to create a multitude of content on their device without the aid of any additional help or website-based software. Content includes photos, videos, audio files, contact details of a person or business or links to a website or social media page of the creator s choice. This feature improves the capability and functionality of the image recognition technology for users.
The advantage of having this feature on an app is that it allows users to share much more content than before, on a single device in a simplified manner. Thus, it allows users of any age to use it.
Examples of Use
One way it can be used is at a restaurant, where the owner has created a gallery of photos of the dishes on the menu. A diner scans the menu and is able to instantly see what the dishes look like before ordering. The owner is able to do that on their mobile device and change images of the dishes as they change on the menu.
Another example is where a teacher can provide an image for students and when students scan that image at school or home, they are provided with additional content to help with their studies.
Another way it can be used is for a business owner who has linked their contact details to their logo. When a potential customer scans the logo a list of contact details appears in which the customer can call the business owner, link to a social media page, send a message or visit their website.
