Description
AUSTRALIA PATENTS ACT 1990 Innovation Patent COMPLETE SPECIFICATION A FUEL ADDITIVE AND A FUEL CONTAINING SAID ADDITIVE The following statement is a description of the invention: 1 A FUEL ADDITIVE AND A FUEL CONTAINING SAID ADDITIVE TECHNICAL FIELD The invention relates to the petrochemical industry, specifically to the various 5 additives to fuels and the fuel compositions with this additive. BACKGROUND Any references to methods, apparatus or documents of the prior art are not to be taken as constituting any evidence or admission that they formed, or form 10 part of the common general knowledge. Additives that increase the octane number of gasoline are known that improve fuel economy and increase engine efficiency, as well as allow to obtain an emulsion of water and hydrocarbons (Patents RU Nos. 2128209, 2132359, 15 2139914, Patents US Nos. 5752992, 5792223, Patents EP 0134380 A2, EP 0229089 Al and others). In addition, there is an increase of usage of liquid fuel that is at least two phase emulsion with water (patents RU Nos. 2010842, 2109797, 2134715, 20 2144059, 3592779 and others). However, stricter requirements for environmental protection and high energy prices require the development of additives that improve fuel efficiency. 25 The prototype of the proposed invention is a universal additive for fuels of internal combustion engines, which comprises an aliphatic C1-C4 alcohol, characterized by the additional containing of urea, acetic acid and water in the following ratio of components, mass %: - aliphatic C1-C4 alcohol 52-84 30 - Urea (carbamide) 4-12 - Acetic acid 4-12 - Water 8-24 (Patent RU 2034905) 2 This additive improves the combustion process, thereby reducing fuel consumption and decreases the amount of pollutants produced during combustion. 5 The disadvantage of the described additive is its high corrosiveness and extremely low solubility in hydrocarbon fuel, making it difficult to use and reducing the area of application. 10 The object of the invention is to provide a fuel additive with a lower corrosivity, high solubility, in any form of fuel and enhanced catalytic abilities. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The problem is solved by improvement of additive formula. To reduce the 15 corrosiveness of the additive on the basis of aliphatic alcohols, urea and water acid content in its composition is reduced, where the acetic acid is replaced by boric acid. Also in additive the content of the urea is increased in the following ratio of components, mass %: - Aliphatic alcohols C2-C4 1 - 97.99 20 - Carbamide (urea) 1 -30 - Boric acid .01 -3 - Water 1 -85 The additive may further comprise a fatty acid and glycerol or ethylene glycol 25 in the following ratio of components, mass %: - Aliphatic alcohols C2-C4 1 - 97.99 - Carbamide (urea) 1 - 30 - Boric acid 0.01 -3 - Fatty acid 0.1 -3 30 - Glycerin or ethylene glycol 0.1 - 30 - Water 1 - 85.
3 The invented additive may be used to improve the combustion of hydrocarbon fuels (gasoline, diesel fuel, black mineral oil or rocket fuel) or petrochemical products or coke production, or products of plant material processing, or water-oil or coal-water fuel or solid fuel, or gaseous fuel. 5 The solid fuel may be coal, peat, briquette from any plant material. Another object is to provide a fuel, which enhances the combustion temperature and also increases the efficiency and completeness of 10 combustion of fuel, thereby reducing the toxicity of the combustion products while reducing the corrosive effects of fuels on the fuel system parts. The aim of the invention is achieved by the basis of a fuel composition of the solid, hydrocarbon, water-oil or coal-water fuel with the addition of 0.0001 15 0.1 % additive comprising of aliphatic alcohols C2-C4, carbamide (urea), boric acid and water in the following ratio of components, mass%: aliphatic alcohols C2-C4 1 - 97.99 carbamide (urea) 1 - 30 boric acid 0.01 - 3 20 water 1 - 85 This fuel composition may also contain an additive comprising a fatty acid added in an amount of 0.1-3 % by weight and glycerol or ethylene glycol in an amount of 0.1-30 mass %. 25 A number of different fuels may be used as follows: hydrocarbon fuel (petrol, diesel fuel, black mineral oil, or rocket fuel) or products of petrochemical or coke production, or products from plant material or water-oil or hydrocarbon fuel, or solid fuel. Preferred embodiments of the invention comprise a 30 composition which improves the stability of a two-phase liquid emulsion or a water-oil in the production of coal-water fuel. Besides, the introduction in the additive considerable amount of ethylene glycol lowers the freezing point of water-containing fuel and can be used in the winter in the far north.
4 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS Six samples of proposed additives were produced and 6 samples of fuel additive, which were tested in comparison with a known additive and the known fuels. 5 Examples of prepared samples and invented additive known additives prototype are shown in table 1. Examples of the fuel composition and the fuel consumption with prototype 10 additive are shown in table 2. Testing of additives in diesel fuel was carried out on a continuous-flow boiler CSO 100 kW and test of additives for solid fuels were conducted on a certified test bench with thermal power of 10 kW , which is designed to study the 15 combustion of solid fuels in the combustion device. The test results for the diesel fuel are shown in table 3, and for the coal briquettes of wood - in table 4. 20 The test results show that the proposed additive and fuel additive with the proposed additive considerably increase the combustion temperature thereby more effectively reduce the CO content in the exhaust compared to the pure fuel and fuel additive with the prototype. 25 Additionally, on a stationary water boilers DKVR 6,5/13 evaluated the estimation of effectiveness of additives on the efficiency of our natural gas combustion. Tests have shown that during the introduction of number 4 inventive additive into the combustion gas zone, sample flame changes color from dark pink to light yellow ( almost white ) and there is an increase of boiler 30 efficiency by 0.8%.
