Description
AUSTRALIA Patents Act 1990 COMPLETE SPECIFICATION INNOVATION PATENT IMPROVED UNIFIED ARROW BROADHEAD WITH ARC-FORCE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM The following statement is a full description of this invention, including the best method of performing it known to me: IMPROVED ARROW BROADHEAD WITH ARC-FORCE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM Archery has traditionally been used for purposes of war, hunting and in recent times sport. An arrow mounted with a broadhead at the tip fired from a bow would cause severe internal haemorrhage from the penetration and width of broadhead cutting diameter when as it strikes the intended target. For many years, there have been four (4) types of arrow broadheads with varying number of blades - cut-on-contact (many of which require broadhead adaptors), cut-on-contact with replaceable blades, chisel (bone crushing) and mechanical broadheads. Broadheads are made of different types of metals, which determine its strength, weight and flight stability. In turn, it is then mounted onto the tip of an arrow shaft in preparation for shooting the intended target from a bow. This innovation invention has been specifically devised in order to provide an improved broadhead that incorporates the benefits of cut-on-contact and chisel (bone-crushing) broadheads through optimising the quantity of metal utilized in production, yet providing strength in the blades through employment of arc-force distribution system technology. The innovation invention broadheads, codenamed "Rest in Peace
TM
" and "Final Justice are to be constructed from hardened cast metal; laser welded to precision in a one-piece unit configuration, without any mechanical functions, replaceable blades or need of broadhead adaptors. The codenames "Rest in PeaceTM" and "Final Justice
T
M are to denote the primary difference of a two (2) blade [1800 angle between blades] and three (3) blade [1200 angle between blades] configuration broadhead, both utilizing the same design with arc-force distribution system technology. A broadhead in accordance with this invention comprises a metal constructed unit with variable amount of sharpened blades, either fixed or replaceable, along or behind a sharpened tip to puncture and cut through the intended target. The construction, weight and balance of the broadhead is of such a size and dimension that when mounted on an arrow shaft tip, does not impede the flight path of the arrow shot as a result of design aerodynamics but rather pierces through the air during the arrow flight. At present, the sharpened tip of a broadhead is an extension of the blades to an apex point (cut-on-contact design) or a separate solid headpiece (chisel). This invention incorporates both cut-on-contact and chisel broadheads design through a one-piece welded hardened metal broadhead, whereby the tip is not only an extension of the sharpened blades but also reinforced to form a tetrahedron (3-sided pyramid, 3 blade)[Final Justice
TM
] or pyramid (4-sided pyramid, 2-blade)[Rest in Peace T M ] structure, a "unified" broadhead therein. The invention incorporates blades that are vented rather than a solid piece blade to reduce air drag along the axle of the broadhead whilst in arrow spin flight. Page 2 of 8 Night Archery Pty Ltd The arc-force distribution system is based on the concept of an arc having great strength as an optimised structure, through distributing the force exerted onto the arc along its curvature path. This invention incorporates this concept through integrating arc structures beneath the broadhead blades, to strengthen the blade construction without impeding axle rotation speed by air friction during arrow flight. The invention may be better understood with reference to the illustrations of embodiments of the invention which: Figure 1 is a side elevation to scale of an improved arrow broadhead with arc-force distribution system with co-acting positions of various other elevations dotted, Figures 2 and 3 are diametrical sectional elevations of the top and front of the arrow broadhead showing the co-acting positioning, Figure 4 is a not to scale cross sectional elevation of the blade construction of the arrow broadhead. Claims (5)
1. An arrow tip comprising of a broadhead in two or three blade configuration that incorporates both cut-on-contact and bone-crushing (chisel) broadhead variances in a one-piece cast hardened metal design laser precision welded to perfection with arc-force distribution system - Unified Arrow Broadhead, for purposes of bowhunting.
2. The unified arrow broadhead of claim 1 wherein the unit is constructed of one piece cast metal with razor sharp blades, to an apex chisel point in tetrahedron (3-sided pyramid, 3-blade)[Final Justice TM ] or pyramid (4-sided pyramid, 2-blade)[Rest in Peace TM ] geometric shape.
3. The blades on the unified arrow broadhead are to be at 120 degrees separation for three blade configuration [Final Justice TM ] or 180 degrees separation for two blade [Rest in Peace TM ] configuration.
4. The unified arrow broadhead blades are reinforced through arc-force distribution system for added strength through distributing the force exerted onto the arc along its curvature path without impeding axle rotation speed by air friction during arrow flight.
5. The unified arrow broadhead of any one of claims 1 to 4 wherein the metal construction is of one-piece cast metal hardened with arc-force distribution system on the blades and universal screw thread to mount on arrow tip inserts.
