Abstract

The invention relates to a method and a device for killing wood-destroying animals by physical treatment. The aim of the invention is to provide a method and a device for specifically treating areas infested with wood-destroying animals, especially in the interior of the wood, and achieving that the pests are reliably killed without using toxic chemical substances or carrying out expensive and extensive thermal treatments. To this end, the infested areas are treated with microwaves. According to the invention, the microwave treatment is carried out using a device which due to its compactness is flexible and versatile in its use. The inventive device consists of a working part, the microwave head (1), and a supply module (2) which are interconnected via a supply tube. The microwave head (1) has a microwave outlet surface which can be contacted with virtually any surface of infested wood no matter how it is shaped.
