Abstract

1. Apparatus for downwardly introducing a starting strand (9) into a continuous casting installation with the aid of a carriage which is displaceable on rails (5) on a casting platform (2), is provided with a drive (4, 29) and consists of an upper part (6, 22) and a lower part (7, 23), on which carriage the starting strand (9) can be centred in the transverse direction and adjusted in the longitudinal direction, the upper part (6, 22) resting on the lower part (7, 23), characterized in that the upper part (6, 22) is movable, in a horizontal plane, relatively to the lower part (7, 23) by at least one device (13, 14, 33, 34, 37, 40).
