Abstract
The method produces evacuated components for heat insulation, these each comprising a casing filled with insulating material forming a distance piece, partic. porous or powdery and with irregularly-shaped particles, such as diatomite. After the filled casing has been evacuated and sealed vacuum- tight, a predetermined high pressure is applied to part of it at least, causing irreversible distortion of casing and contents. On filling, the material can be delivered at least at atmospheric pressure into the casing and thus pre-compressed.
