Description

Method for profiling contact strips with closely spaced parallel
Comb.

In glass grinding, grinding stones are used that have a large number of parallel, closely spaced sharp or blunt combs, with which simple or intersecting groups of grooves are ground into glass objects. The grinding of the comb profile in these grinding wheels has so far been done in such a way that the recesses between the combs to be formed were ground into the initially smooth grinding surface of the wheel by means of thin steel plates or diamonds. This procedure was very cumbersome and time consuming, and precise distribution of the combs was difficult to achieve.

According to the invention, the comb profiles are ground into the grinding wheel by means of a grinding stone which has combs whose distribution corresponds to the combs which are to be ground on the grinding wheel. This results in blunt combs because the combs of the grindstone used as a tool always wear out quickly; In many cases, however, grinding wheels with blunt combs are sufficient, so that reworking is not always necessary. However, if you need grinding wheels with sharp combs, the blunt combs that have been ground in for the time being are individually sharpened using correspondingly thin sanding plates.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for profiling grinding wheels with closely adjacent, parallel ridges, characterized in that the grooves located between the ridges are ground by means of a grinding stone which has ridges whose distribution corresponds to that of the ridges to be ground, whereupon the ridges are usually blunt if necessary, can be sharpened for example by means of thin grinding plates.
