Nach dem vorliegenden Verfahren soll nun die Oberschicht des Leistens mit Stearin, Wachs, Fett oder dgl. versehen sein, so dass das Ankleben des Schaftes am Leisten verhindert wird.
Wenn man beispielsweise den Leisten mit einer fetthaltigen Masse, z. B. mit Talg bestreicht, so nimmt die Oberschicht des Leistens so viel Fett auf, dass der Klebstoff nicht mehr haften bleibt und infolgedessen wird beim Herausziehen des Leistens dem Schuh kein Widerstand entgegengesetzt und jede Beschädigung vermieden. Das Ausleisten geschieht also leichter als dies bisher möglich war.
