Schutzumschlag für Bücher.
Den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildet eiu Schutzumschlag für Bücher, den man ohne jede weitere Anpassung für verschieden dicke Bücher von gleichem Formate verwenden kann. Der Schutzumschlag lässt sich leicht und rasch an den Büchern anbringen, ohne dass es notwendig wäre, ihn in irgend welcher Weise gegen Ablösen vom Buche zu sichern.
Der den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildende Schutzumschlag besteht aus einem rechteckigen Blatt, dessen Höhe dem Formate des Buches entspricht, dessen Länge jedoch die doppelte Breite des gegebenen Buchformates weit übersteigt. An dem einen Ende des Schutzumschlages ist eine über dessen ganze Breite sich erstreckende, an sich bekannte Tasche vorgesehen, in die der eine Deckel des Buches eingeschoben wird ; an dem anderen Ende des den Schutzumschlag bildenden rechteckigen Blattes ist der Quere nach ein über die ganze Breite des Umschlagrechteckes sich erstreckender, mit Vorteil aus gleichem Material wie der Schutzumschlag bestehender Streifen mit seinen Enden so befestigt, dass der Deckel des Buches unter dem Streifen hindurchgezogen werden kann.
Die Zeichnung zeigt den den Gegenstand der Erfindung bildenden Schutzumschlag für Bücher. Fig. 1 stellt eine perspektivische Ansicht eines offenen, mit dem Schutzumschlage versehenen Buches dar. Fig. 2 ist ein senkrecht auf die Deckel des Buches geführter Schnitt und Fig. 3 eine Ansicht des flachgelegten Schutzumschlages.
Ein rechteckiges Stück Webstoff, Leder, Papier oder dgl. ist an einem Ende mit einer durch Zurückbiegen eines entsprechenden Teiles des Stoffes gebildeten Tasche 2 versehen. An dem anderen Ende ist quer über die ganze Breite des Stoffes ein Streifen 3 aus Stoff oder dgl. so befestigt, dass der Deckel des Buches zwischen dem Streifen 3 und dem eigentlichen Schutzumschlage 1 hindurchgesteckt werden kann.
Beim Anbringen des Schutzumschlagen wird nach dem Einschieben des einen Deckels 4 in die Tasche 2 zuerst das mit dem Streifen 3 versehene Ende des Schutzumschlages in bekannter Weise um 1800 umgewendet, worauf der zweite Deckel 5 des Buches zwischen dem Schutzumschlage und dem Streifen so hindurchgezogen wird, dass der Streifen auf die Aussenseite des Buchdeckels 5 und unter den den Deckel von aussen bedeckenden Teil des Schutzumschlages zu liegen kommt. Zum Schlüsse wird das mit dem Streifen 3 versehene Ende des Schutzumschlages nach innen in der Richtung gegen den Rücken des Buches zu solange verschoben, bis sich der Schutzumschlag spannt und an das Buch von aussen straff anlegt.

The subject of the invention is a protective cover for books, which can be used without any further adaptation for books of different thicknesses of the same format. The dust jacket can be easily and quickly attached to the books without it being necessary to secure it in any way against detachment from the book.
The dust jacket forming the subject of the invention consists of a rectangular sheet, the height of which corresponds to the format of the book, but the length of which far exceeds twice the width of the given book format. At one end of the dust jacket there is provided a pocket which is known per se and extends over its entire width and into which one of the covers of the book is inserted; At the other end of the rectangular sheet forming the dust jacket, a strip extending across the entire width of the envelope rectangle, advantageously made of the same material as the dust jacket, is attached with its ends in such a way that the cover of the book can be pulled through under the strip can.
