Bei eingeführtem Stufenschlüssel (1) stoßen die Verriegelungsstifte in zurückgezogenen Bereiche (5) im Schlüsselblatt an, welche zur Aufnahme der Verriegelungsstifte an den jeweiligen Schließ- bzw. Öffnungspositionen vorgesehen sind und zwischen denen unterschiedlich weit vor- stehende Bereiche ausgebildet sind. Durch die Fertigung, gemäß welcher die zurückgezo- genen Bereiche (5) eingefräst oder eingeschliffen werden in das Schlüsselblatt (2), entstehen Spitzen oder Zacken, welche eine Verletzungsgefahr bedeuten können und welche auch leicht beschädigbar sind, sodass der Schlüssel (1) bereits nach einmaligem Herunter- fallen unter Umständen schon unbrauchbar werden kann. Gemäß der Erfindung wird ein Stufenschlüssel vorgesehen, bei welchem die vorstehenden Spitzen als Abflachungen (6) ausgebildet sind.
