Sitz werden die beiden Rahmen 1 und 2 in der Mitte beim Scharnier 3 hochgehoben, so dass sie sich nach Art eines Satteldaches aufstellen.
In diesem Zustand wird der Rahmen 2 an den Rahmen 1 vollständig angeklappt, so dass beide Rahmen 1 und 2 als Rückenlehne und die beiden Armstützen seitlich des Sitzgestelles in ihre Gebrauchslage kommen. Beim Anklappen des Rahmens 2 an den Rahmen 1 fallen die Klinken 11 selbsttätig in die von der Querstrebe 9 des Sitzgestelles 7 gebildete Rast ein, wodurch sie beide Rahmen 1 und 2 im aufgerichteten Zustand aneinander und am Sitzgestell festhalten. Die Armstützen sind am Sitzgestell in Ösen od. dgl. ebenfalls befestigbar.
Auf diese Weise ist es leicht und ohne Lösung von Betteilen möglich, das Bett in einen Sitz mit Rücken-und Armstützen zu verwandeln und umgekehrt das Bett in einen Stuhl umzubauen, wobei die Sicherung des ganzen Bettgestelles im Gebrauchszustand als Stuhl lediglich von einem Klinkenpaar gewährleistet wird, das mit einem Handgriff leicht ausrückbar ist.
