Process for eliminating the disturbing tone when showing lenticular films with light tone recording.
It is well known that the screening of lenticular films is one of the most important aspects of showing such films
Can generate noise. To eliminate this disturbing tone, it has already been proposed to leave a narrow, non-rastered strip free for the sound recording when the raster is embossed on the film or, after the raster has been embossed, over the entire width of the film at that point on the film on which the sound is to be recorded To smoothen the grid again.
It has now been found that the removal of the interfering sound can be achieved in a much simpler way by wetting the film with a non-flammable liquid during the presentation. It is already known to treat ordinary films (without rasterization) with a liquid during the presentation, for the purpose of suppressing background noise caused by scratches, dust particles or other irregular unevenness of the film. This background noise or background noise, which only occurs when film strips are used several times, has the same disturbing tone that also occurs with new screen films, which depending on the fineness of the screen and the film speed as a whistling tone with a frequency of 6000-8000 Hz.
similar to the superimposition whistling of radio receivers, it becomes audible that nothing is done.
Carbon tetrachloride has proven to be a particularly suitable liquid for the process according to the invention.
The method can be used with equal success for all types of screen films, that is to say those with honeycomb rasterization and cylinder lens rasterization in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
