circuit of the exciter. The partial force flow of the exciter acting on this circuit can be compounded by the group current.

The invention also enables traction vehicles equipped with ordinary series motors to be retrospectively set up for regenerative braking. The motors can remain unchanged; only their excitation windings are switched off from the main circuit and applied to the brushes of the excitation machine. This takes up little space and, together with its drive motor, can easily be accommodated anywhere on the traction vehicle at night. Since the compound windings are on the exciter, they can be switched on at any point in the working circuits of the motors, so that apart from the aforementioned switchover of the exciter winding, they are not changed in any way.

The excitation windings are either to be disconnected from the main circuit, as shown in the drawing, or they can also remain in this by simply placing the circuits of the excitation machine assigned to them in parallel with them.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Exciter arrangement for electrical machines working in parallel with a series failure with common! Exciter motor, in particular for the motors of electric traction vehicles with series parallel connection and regenerative braking, characterized in that the circuits of the exciter machine which feed the exciter windings of the machines, preferably belonging to different collector sections, are linked with various fields or field components that are separately influenced by the load currents of the machines operating in parallel.

EMI2.1 2. Exciter arrangement according to claim 1, characterized in that the exciter machine has split poles, the partial poles of which carry composite or counter-composite windings through which the load currents of the main machines or currents proportional to them flow separately.
