Chromium-copper structural steel for construction purposes.
The subject of the invention is the formation of a heavy-duty structural steel, which is used in particular for the production of shaped, bar or width iron, sheet metal and the like. Like. Is intended that are used to build heavy-duty structures.
The invention is based on the steel according to patent no. 133712, which contains about 0-1 to 0-2% carbon as well as copper and chromium up to a total of 2%. This steel is characterized by a low A3 point, high elastic limit and high toughness. Particularly favorable proportions for this steel are 0 # 1 to 0'2% carbon, 0'5 to 1'5% copper and 0-25 to 0-5% chromium.
The invention relates to an improvement on this steel, which consists in partially replacing the copper with cheaper elements, u. between silicon and manganese or silicon and manganese. It was found that the same result, for which a higher copper content would otherwise be necessary, can be achieved with a steel, its copper content

contains. If silicon and manganese are added at the same time, quantities below the maximum values specified for the individual additives must be selected. If only one of the two elements is used, z. B. to increase the silicon content up to about 0'7%, while the manganese content is maintained at the normal level (up to about 0-6%).
Instead of this, the manganese content can also be increased to around 1'5% and the normal silicon content (up to around 0'35%) retained.
