Abstract

Se describe un proceso para purificar selectivamente una corriente de producto de cloruro de litio de una solución acuosa que contiene sal de litio, el proceso comprende las etapas de: introducir la solución acuosa que contiene sal de litio en una o más columnas llenas con un sorbente selectivo de litio; hacer fluir la solución acuosa que contiene sal de litio a través de la una o más columnas para adsorber cloruro de litio de la solución acuosa que contiene sal de litio en un sorbente y formar un sorbente con un mayor contenido de cloruro de litio que el sorbente antes de introducir la solución; hacer fluir un fluido desorbente una vez a través de la al menos una o más columnas para desorber cloruro de litio del sorbente en una corriente de eluato, en donde el fluido desorbente se hace fluir en una dirección de corriente paralela con respecto a la dirección de flujo de la solución acuosa que contiene sal de litio, y recuperar una corriente de producto de cloruro de litio de la corriente de eluato, en donde la corriente de eluato tiene una relación Li:TDS de 0.08 o más.
